Our Leadership & Operational Roles

Key roles and responsibilities that drive SPESB’s operations and support Sabah Parks’ mission.

Role Responsibilities
Board of Trustees (Sabah Parks) Oversees SPESB as the sole shareholder and ensures company operations support Sabah Parks’ conservation mission, long-term sustainability, and eco-tourism development strategies.
SPESB Board of Directors Provides corporate leadership and governance, sets strategic direction, approves major decisions, and ensures alignment with Sabah Parks’ objectives and government policies.
Chairman Chairs the Board, leads high-level decision-making, and strengthens collaboration with Sabah Parks and relevant ministries for responsible tourism and operational excellence.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Leads overall operations including hostel management, reservations, financial sustainability, stakeholder partnerships, and implementation of eco-tourism standards.
Operations Manager

Operations Manager

  • Oversees daily operations at Panalaban (Mokodou & Kinotoki) and Lemaing hostels, ensuring safety, service quality, environmental stewardship, and coordination with Sabah Parks.

Finance & Administration Unit

  • Responsible for financial planning, budgeting, procurement, HR, and admin support. Ensures transparency, accountability, and compliance with governance and regulations.

Reservation & Customer Support Unit

  • Manages climber bookings, handles inquiries, and provides accurate information regarding Mount Kinabalu climbs.
Hostel Staff Provide on-ground services at high-altitude hostels including facility maintenance, guest coordination, safety support, cleanliness, and hospitality.
